(TRANSYLVANIA COUNTY, NC) - The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred over the weekend. Both the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office and the Transylvania County District Attorney's Office requested assistance from the SBI. Agents are actively working on the case, and the next of kin has been officially notified this morning.
 
Following the notification, the SBI is releasing the name of the suspect who is deceased: Raul Alberto Rivera (DOB: 06/27/1995).  Mr. Rivera's body has been taken to the Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy.
