Misuse of State Property
State agencies are required by law to report to the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation when the misuse of state property has occurred as per
N.C.G.S. 143b-1208.6.
Misuse of state property includes the attempted arson, arson, damage, theft, embezzlement, or misuse of, any state-owned property, buildings or other real property,
Any person employed by the State of North Carolina, its agencies or institutions, who receives any information or evidence of such misuse of state-owned property shall, within three days, report said misuse to their immediate supervisor, who shall then report the incident to the designated personnel for their agency. The designated personnel will then review and submit the report to the SBI no later than 10 days from receipt.
