(CATAWBA COUNTY, NC) - The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) was requested by the Newton Police Department (NPD) to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on June 26, 2025. The SBI conducted a thorough investigation and disseminated its findings to the Catawba County District Attorney for review. As a result, a true bill of indictment was returned today for NPD Lieutenant Carlos Alverto Uribe. Uribe has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
