NC SBI Newest Four Legged Employees

4/17/2025

Meet the newest members of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) — our incredible K9s! They are professional, well-dressed, and always happy to see you. Please welcome Pita, Lola, and Lobo.

The SBI is excited to introduce these recent graduates to our K9 division. Lobo and Pita are explosives detection dogs, while Lola specializes in human remains detection. These new additions will enhance our capabilities across North Carolina and enable us to respond more quickly to our partner agencies in need.

Currently, the SBI has a total of 16 K9s, which include 6 human remains dogs, 4 bomb dogs, 2 drug dogs, 2 arson dogs, 1 electronics storage detection dog, and 1 therapy dog. Our K9s are deployed on average 350 times each year, and they often assist agencies outside of North Carolina with various cases. Notably, our bomb dogs play a crucial role in securing major events throughout the state and even protect the President of the United States during his visits.

We are thrilled to have these three K9s on our team as we continue to provide the best investigatory agents in law enforcement.
