(BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC) - Last Thursday, the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) after receiving information about threatening posts made on social media toward legislators. Consequently, the SBI began an investigation into several of these posts. 

Following a thorough investigation, 44-year-old Anthony Wayne Street from Brunswick County was arrested and charged on Friday afternoon with communicating threats to a legislative agent or court official. He was booked into the Brunswick County Jail with a secured bond set at $2,000.

On Monday, Mr. Street made his first court appearance in Brunswick County. The presiding judge modified his bond, increasing it to a secured amount of $25,000. As a result, Mr. Street was immediately taken back into custody and returned to the Brunswick County Jail.

The SBI's investigation into this case is ongoing, and no further information is available at this time.
