SBI Identifies Officers in Shooting Death of Clay Lickteig

The names the Franklin Police Department officers involved in the shooting death of Clay Alan Lickteig on June 30 are being released today by the State Bureau of Investigation.

Officer Kevin Breedlove and Sgt. Tony Ashe were attempting to serve a felony probation violation warrant on Lickteig when the shooting occurred. Lickteig reportedly fired the first shots and Breedlove returned fire, striking and killing Lickteig. Ashe did not fire his weapon.

The shooting occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Woodland Hills Drive and N.C. 28. This is an ongoing investigation and no further details will be released at this time.
