SBI Arrests Wilmington Woman for Drug Trafficking

A woman is scheduled to appear in a New Hanover County courtroom today on drug trafficking charges following her arrest Monday, by the State Bureau of Investigation.

The SBI’s Diversion and Environmental Crimes Unit arrested Tanya Worley Lanier, 44, of Wilmington, on twelve felony counts of trafficking in opiates and twelve felony counts of obtaining controlled substances by fraud.

Lanier obtained multiple hydrocodone and oxycodone tablets through fraudulent activities.

Lanier was booked into the New Hanover County detention facility after being denied bond by the magistrate.

This was a joint investigation with the Wilmington Police Department.
