Non-Criminal Justice Resources
An important function of the SBI's Criminal Information and Identification Section is to provide services to criminal justice and non-criminal justice agencies. Services to non-criminal justice agencies include conducting criminal record background checks for those entities or individuals for employment and licensing purposes. These criminal record background checks are conducted pursuant to North Carolina General Statutes, local ordinances or federal mandates.
Criminal record background checks are conducted to ensure suitability for employment, in such environments as nursing homes, adoptive/foster cases, and health care facilities. Also, for state boards, such as real estate, respiratory care and interpreters, criminal record checks are requested for licensure purposes.
This page will provide resources to those agencies, including links to a quarterly newsletter, information on new laws and upcoming NCJA conferences and seminars.
