Applicant Processing Unit
This Unit processes non-criminal justice name and fingerprint background checks for over 3,000 non-criminal justice agencies, not only in North Carolina but in the United States and overseas. North Carolina law requires a General Statute, ordinance, federal mandate or Executive Order for a non-criminal justice agency to have access to our criminal history records. This Unit is responsible for entering information into the Billing System on every non-criminal name check or fingerprint card that we receive. This Unit processes fingerprint background checks for North Carolina citizens applying for a Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) utilizing NCGS 14-415.13. The Unit also processes criminal justice applicant fingerprint cards for law enforcement agencies in North Carolina.
