Attorney John Watters serves the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation as Legal Counsel.

He is a 1976 honors graduate of North Carolina State University and a graduate of Wake Forest University School of Law in 1979. He remained in private practice until 1982, when he joined the North Carolina Department of Justice as a Legal Instructor.

In March 1993, he was assigned as Legal Counsel to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Attorney Watters provides job-related legal advice to the laboratory and field personnel involving criminal investigations. He also represents the Bureau in the event of a civil lawsuit involving the agency or one of its employees.

He is admitted to practice and is in good standing with the State Bar, all Federal Districts in North Carolina, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
