SBI Special Agent Academy & Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) - In-residence training programs of approximately 600 hours each.
In-Service Training - In-Service training for sworn personnel is mandated and includes firearms re-qualification, legal updates, use of force, administrative policy and procedure changes. In-Service for non-sworn personnel includes policy and procedure changes, personnel growth and development as well as specialized job related courses.
Career Development and Specialized Training - Available to all SBI Personnel, and is conducted in various locations, both in and out of state.
In addition, the Training Section may be called upon to produce other types of training tailored to meet the needs of the field, laboratory, administration and support staff.
The Internship Program serves as a tremendous resource for the SBI. Because of the many different disciplines in our agency, we attract students from diverse fields of study. Often students look to the SBI Internship Program to further their education in a law enforcement career. We welcome the opportunity to work with qualified students and look forward to fostering the relationships which ensure a successful future for the SBI. The Recruitment Program is designed to attract and hire the most qualified and diverse work force we can achieve. Agents volunteer to attend Career Days and Job Fairs on College Campuses across the state. This allows us to provide information on the various careers available to many prospective employees, and it allows us an opportunity to explain the hiring requirements and process.
