Cyberstalking

The Internet era ushered in a new type of stalking called "cyberstalking." Generally, it involves repeated annoying or threatening behavior that takes place online. In most cases, the victim does not know the cyberstalker.

Cyberstalking By a Child Predator

In some cases, younger and less experienced Internet users are targets of cyberstalking by a child predator. In those cases, a predator may become obsessed with a child after taking part in a chat room discussion, communicating with a child online, or seeing an online photograph of a child.

Gathering Personal Information

The predator may attempt to locate the child. They can gather personal information about the child through an online profile, a chat room discussion, or the child's screen name. Using this information, they may be able to locate the child's home telephone number and then determine where the child resides. With time and research, someone who is stalking your child may be able to find their way right to your door.
