Law Enforcement and Prosecutors

Attorney General Roy Cooper is committed to protecting North Carolina's children. He is working to make our homes and schools as safe as possible through education and prevention.

As Attorney General, Cooper created a special computer unit in the State Bureau of Investigation to give law enforcement the hi-tech expertise that is needed to catch criminals who use the Internet to prey on children.

Another weapon in the battle against child predators is Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), a nationwide network of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors dedicated to protecting children from online dangers.

North Carolina's ICAC Task Force is led by the State Bureau of Investigation, which is part of the North Carolina Department of Justice headed by Attorney General Cooper. The U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention founded ICAC, and provides funding for it.

The North Carolina ICAC Task Force assists local law enforcement agencies in tracking down predators who use the Internet to exploit children, and helps prosecutors when those cases go to court.

The Attorney General's staff and ICAC Task Force members can provide Internet education and safety programs for North Carolina's children, parents and educators. Click here to send a request for a presentation.
