Sex Offender Registry

North Carolina's State Bureau of Investigation maintains a Sex Offender Registry. Local sheriffs' offices provide the list of registered offenders in their counties to the SBI. In 2016, North Carolina had 17,175 offenders on the state registry.

The public may search the registry or get statistics on sex offenses in the state. The site also provides information to sex offenders on how to register. Please note that information is only provided on registered sex offenders.

Victims may receive telephone notifications for any status change of a registered sex offender through the North Carolina Statewide Victims Assistance and Notification program.

Uniform Crime Reports

North Carolina Law enforcement agencies voluntarily submit data to the SBI on specific crimes committed in their areas of jurisdiction. The SBI compiles the information for the FBI.  Uniform Crime Reports create a reliable set of criminal statistics for use in law enforcement administration, operation, and management.

Children and the Internet

This information provides a guide for both parents and children in using social media safely and keeping children away from sexual predators.

Operation Medicine Drop

The SBI partners with Safe Kids North Carolina, the Drug Enforcement Administration and local law enforcement to collect and safely destroy prescription drugs during Operation Medicine Drop.

Operation Medicine Drop events typically take place statewide in the spring and fall. You can sign up to receive email notifications about events in your area or, find a permanent drop box near you.
