SMITHFIELD – Special Agents from the SBI’s Diversion and Environmental Crimes Unit arrested a Morrisville man on drug charges yesterday.

William Rawleigh Fusilier, 35, was charged with three felony counts of Embezzlement of a Controlled Substance by an Employee of a Registrant.

Fusilier diverted Fentanyl, Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) and Morphine from Johnston UNC Healthcare in Smithfield. Fusilier diverted these medications while employed as a Nurse Anesthetist at Johnston UNC Healthcare. Fusilier was employed elsewhere at the time of his arrest.

Fusilier and his attorney met with the investigating agent at the Johnston County Magistrate’s Office. The on duty magistrate issued a $40,000 secured bond before Fusilier was photographed and fingerprinted by detention staff.

Fusilier is scheduled to have a first appearance before a judge today.

Please contact the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office to confirm if Fusilier posted bond or was taken into custody.

Fusilier was listed as residing in Pine Level on the Johnston County today website, but he in fact resides in Morrisville.
