Cocaine Seizure in Alamance County

RALEIGH – A joint investigation by state and federal law enforcement has resulted in a substantial seizure of cocaine in Alamance County.  The seizure and subsequent arrest of one individual took place at a residence on Thursday.  
 
Agents from State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted the search at the home located outside the city limits of Graham.  The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office also provided assistance at the scene.     

The SBI led search resulted in the seizure of 83 kilograms of cocaine and $837,460 in cash.  The cocaine has an estimated street value of $3,200,000 dollars.    

The Mexican national male arrested at the scene was transported to the Alamance County jail, where he was is being held under a $1,000,000 bond.   

Anyone with information about drug activity is being asked to call local and state law enforcement.  Thursday’s result presents how partnerships between law enforcement and their communities can make a positive impact.
